Replace RGA capacitor banks 1 & 2 with new fuseless capacitor units, replace RGA CS1 & CS2 with two new circuit switchers with higher short-circuit ratings. RGA C-1 disconnect switch replaced with a new gang-operated switch (RGA CAP1-1). Second gang-operated switch added (RGA CAP2-1) to separate the supply to each capacitor bank and improve switching operations. A second current transformer, CTCAP2 added.

Westwood Electric performed the complete physical and electrical installations including below grade conduit and grounding, cable trench, steel assembly and install, MV and HV equipment, with supply and install of all soft bus, hard bus, and related fittings. Also completed was the installation of lightning protection, propane station backup power system, and design support and supply of station signage. This project was a substantial undertaking within the timeline provided and we were able to accommodate the compressed schedule using a cross-shift and increased crew sizes in order to meet the project completion date.

Disconnect VTs and LAs from line, remove soft conductor drops to the circuit breaker, remove the circuit breaker CTs from operation and foundation, pour new foundations with anchors, install new vacuum breakers.

Acting as Prime Contractor to add a third 230kV transformer to the substation and convert the 138kV portion of the station to a true ring bus configuration in a Brownfield environment. This project had a high degree of complexity with many different subcontractors and was completed on time and on budget with a zero safety or environmental incidents.
This project was working in a live 138kV substation installing a new second transformer including new 138kV switch gear, bus works, secondary wire-way bus to new 13kV switchgear. Included is the excavation to accommodate a new underground conduit system, foundations with oil containment for the transformer and switchgear. The installation also included control and power wiring for the new equipment and a new feeder for the capacitor banks. Installed the extensive blast wall around the transformer.
Assembly of two owner supplied 75MVA transformers, installation of all owner supplied equipment, supply and install of structural steel, complete grounding system, underground duct and conduit system, lighting protection system, substation area lighting, microwave tower, and back to back repeater tower.
